Safety & insurance

How we run trips safely, and what we need from you to keep it that way.

On the boat

Every boat carries life jackets for all guests and crew, a first aid kit, drinking water, and a means of communication with shore. Our crews brief every group before departure.

Our boats are registered and operate under the licences required of passenger vessels in Thailand. If you want to see the paperwork before you board, ask — we will show you.

In the water

A guide enters the water with the group at every snorkel stop and stays with anyone who is not a confident swimmer. Life jackets are worn by all weak swimmers and are available to everyone.

Tell us before departure if you cannot swim, are pregnant, or have a heart, respiratory or ear condition. It changes what we recommend and where we position a guide.

  • Never snorkel alone or beyond the area your guide indicates
  • Full-face snorkel masks are not permitted on our boats
  • Do not free-dive into caves, overhangs or the Emerald Cave tunnel
  • Come out of the water when your guide signals

Weather and sea state

We do not run trips when conditions are unsafe. That decision sits with the captain, is made on the morning, and is not open to negotiation. Cancellations for weather are refunded in full.

Insurance

We carry the passenger liability insurance required of licensed operators in Thailand.

We strongly recommend guests hold their own travel insurance covering water activities, boat travel and medical evacuation. Medical care on Koh Lanta is limited and serious cases are transferred to Krabi or Phuket.

Medical and emergencies

Every boat carries a first aid kit and a means of contacting shore, and our crews know the procedure. Serious cases go to the hospital on Koh Lanta first and are transferred to Krabi or Phuket if needed — which is exactly why we ask every guest to hold travel insurance that covers water activities.

Protecting the reef

Standing on coral kills it. So does touching it, and so does sunscreen containing filters banned in Thai marine parks. Our guides enforce this and will end a stop early if guests will not follow it.
